In line with its vision of developing well-trained Filipino actors, the Tanghalang Pilipino maintains a regular training program for actors through its Actors’ Company. The Actors’ Company is directed towards developing the activity of a theater from a dilettante’s passatiempo or hobby to a profession, whereby he is recognized and given credit for his duties and responsibilities as artists in residence. The only one of its kind in the country, the Actors’ Company is a pool of professional theater actors who go through intensive training in acting, movement, dance, voice, script analysis, improvisation, directing and other related courses. Members of this prestigious and privileged group are among the most respected artists in Philippine theater, television and film communities. Some of the actors who trained under this program are: Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino, Noni Buencamino, Irma Adlawan-Marasigan, Allan Paule, John Arcilla, Garry Lim and CCP’s former Vice President and Tanghalang Pilipino’s current Artistic Director, Fernando ‘Nanding’ Josef.

Tanghalang Pilipino's 2014 SUMMER THEATER ADVENTURE Cultural Center of the Philippines WORKSHOP DATES: April 1-27, 2014 / Tuesday to Saturday Classes TANGHALANG PILIPINO (TP), the resident theater company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), is proud to present the 2014 Summer Theater Adventure, a month-long program of various theatrical activities in different age levels designed to unleash the creative potentials of aspiring theater artists. TP’s acting workshops have been highly-acclaimed by parents, students and educational institutions for the intensive training and excellent experience it imparts on the participants. The 2014 Summer Theater Adventure is composed of classes for children, teens and adults facilitated by some of the country’s most outstanding thespians and practitioners in the field. Special lectures are also given by TP’s outstanding alumni. Each workshop culminates in a recital held at the CCP – Tanghalang Huseng Batute, where students get the chance to be seen by talent scouts. Course Details: Children’s Dramatic Theater 1 5-8 years old Tuesday-Saturday, 9am -12nn Children’s Dramatic Theater 2 (9-12 years old) 16 sessions Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-12nn Creative dramatics for children using games, storytelling techniques, movement, music and masks as tools of expression. Participants perform in a showcase production at the end of the course. Teen Theater 16 sessions (13-16 years old) Tuesday-Saturday, 1pm -5pm An introduction to performance skills for young adults, the workshop integrates creative drama, music, writing, movement and visual arts to explore themes concerning the youth. Script analysis and voice for theater are likewise incorporated in the course. Beginning Acting (17 years old & above) 16 sessions Tuesday – Saturday, 1-5pm A practical application of the rudiments of acting, including concentration, spontaneity, improvisation, confidence, body and voice preparation, characterization and script analysis to create a unique and authentic life on stage. Production & Stage Management (17 years old and above) 16 sessions Tuesday-Saturday, 6-10pm Organizing the production, communicating across different disciplines, and keeping everything running smoothly. Learn about the seamless management of the technical as human aspects of a production. TP's Tuxqs Rutaquio cited as Best Director for BEST OF THEATER 2013

BEST DIRECTOR- Tuxqs Rutaquio. For two topnotch productions—“Der Kaufmann/Ang Negosyante ng Venecia” and “Ibalong,” one a provocative transposition of Shakespeare (co-directed with adaptor Rody Vera), the other a roaring neo-ethnic dance-musical—that showcased Rutaquio’s range and acuity as a director and his expert way with ensembles. A third work, the small-scale musical “Sandosenang Sapatos,” was a minor affair that nevertheless still throbbed with the emotional eloquence characteristic of Rutaquio’s output. He also did double duty as set designer for all three productions (and played Antonio in a couple of “Der Kaufmann” performances). Already the most accomplished young director to emerge from the Virgin Labfest, Rutaquio represents a new generation of creative multi-hyphenates stirring the theater scene. He is an exciting artist to watch.
